ABA serves as a trade association representing the interests of the $102 billion wholesale baking industry. As the baking industry’s chief advocate and spokesperson, MacKie will discuss how cold and frozen storage in the baking industry is poised for significant growth in the next few years. In addition to food safety benefits, the potential benefits of extending shelf life of bakery products without reduction in product quality, nutrition, and appearance offers opportunities for key players in the baking and cold chain industries to work together.

“As the voice of the baking industry, Robert MacKie is the perfect candidate to share how GCCA members can employ their cold chain storage and logistics expertise to positively impact the baking sector,” Corey Rosenbusch, President and CEO of GCCA said. “I’m excited to hear how our two industries can team up to strengthen one another.”

This year’s meeting will put a focus on the significant regulations impacting the world’s food and cold chain through three days of activities. The AOC Symposium includes education sessions providing detailed content on topics such as Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and other port issues, Sanitary Transportation of Food, global food trade outlook, GMO labeling, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), refrigeration regulations, and more. This programming will provide an overall outlook on the key regulations impacting the cold chain industry originating in the United States government agencies and how they will relate to the world at large in the years to come.

The Committee meetings on the second day provide members of GCCA working committees an opportunity to work on tools and resources developed by GCCA. And on the final day, members participate in Government Agency Visits to elevate the importance of certain issues related to the global cold chain industry. Agency visits may include – Department of Energy, Department of Transportation, United States Department of Agriculture, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and others.
