On 28 September, GCCA will host the Final of its 2021 Europe Future Leader Award Competition. Three bright young talents will run as Finalists to reap the 2021 European title. The winner will be automatically eligible to compete against other regional winners for GCCA’s 2021 Global NextGen Award.

The three finalists qualified out of eight applicants as some of the best and brightest European potential future leaders in the temperature-controlled logistics industry. The finalists are Alejandro Delgado Tarin, Solutions and Project Manager, Europe, Americold Logistics LLC, Spain; Shane Meharg, Group Marketing & PR Manager, Magnavale, England; Chris Smith, Account Manager, AGRO Merchants Group, Northern Ireland. 

“This class of Europe Future Leader Award finalists demonstrates the quality of younger individuals involved in the cold chain industry and the great potential we have for the future,” said GCCA Director of Europe, Julie Hanson. “These nominees show great passion for their work and cold chain alike, and go above and beyond to get the job done. We are proud to work with them and are excited for the winner to be announced in a few weeks.”

This year's application review happened virtually and applicants for the award were evaluated by a panel of industry leaders. The finalists will compete for the top honor during the 2021 Europe Future Leader Award Competition Final happening virtually on 28 September – REGISTER HERE

Launched in 2019, the Europe Future Leader Award recognizes talented young professionals in the European continent, who have the potential to become future leaders and make a positive contribution to the development of the temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics industry. Nominees must demonstrate excellence in their work, the potential to excel further in the many facets within the industry, and possess insight into their organization’s strategic values and direction, policies, and ways of working.

The European competition is an addition to GCCA’s portfolio of Cold Chain Future Leader Awards including the Don Schlimme Award in North America, the Australian Frank Vale Award, the Latin American Award, the Brazilian Award and the African Award. All these give way to the ultimate GCCA Global NextGen Award, electing the winner of all regional awards and the Refrigerated Warehouse & Transport Association of Australia Ltd (RWTA)’s Frank Vale Award.
