IRTA Establishes Affiliation with Transportation Law Firm

August 18, 2015

The International Refrigerated Transportation Association (IRTA), a core partner of the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), has established a special relationship with Scopelitis Garvin Light Hanson & Feary (Scopelitis), a law firm specializing in transportation legal issues.

Through this special relationship, Scopelitis lawyers will aid IRTA members in understanding if they need legal assistance with their transportation challenges at no cost. If it is determined that legal assistance is needed, IRTA members will receive a 10% discount on Scopelitis rates if they decide to use them as their legal representation.

“Transportation is an integral component of the cold chain, and this sector encounters many specific legal and regulatory issues that often require the expertise of a specialized firm,” said Matt Luckas, Chairman of the Board for IRTA and Vice President, Hanson Logistics. “This affiliation allows us to draw on this firm’s expertise to create material and offer programs that will prove invaluable to members.”

Scopelitis serves the legal and business needs of the transportation industry on a full-service basis. With offices strategically located in many major cities throughout the United States, they offer advice and counsel on transportation-related issues and represent motor carriers, private carriers, shippers, brokers, logistics companies, and trucking insurers for more than 30 years. Scopelitis is the only firm in the nation that devotes all of its 25 practice areas to the transportation and logistics industry; each attorney in the firm focuses on this industry every day.

Kevin Phillips, Partner at Scopelitis, added, “We are delighted to launch this new relationship with IRTA and look forward to providing its members with a valuable member benefit.”

The firm’s attorneys are highly regarded transportation law scholars, teaching the transportation law curriculum at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court, authoring numerous articles and white papers, delivering speeches to transportation industry associations and other groups, and serving on boards and committees of these organizations.
