WASHINGTON, DC, July 12, 2012 – The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) India Division is pleased to announce that GCCA India Director Atul Khanna has been nominated as the Vice Chairman of the Logistic and Supply Chain Committee of the newly formed National Centre for Cold Chain Development (NCCD) in India.

Founded in February 2012, the NCCD is a public-private organization that will be responsible for developing the cold chain in India.
NCCD will be led by a 22-member Governing Council, including government officials, representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, produce growers, cold chain equipment manufacturers/suppliers, and others involved in the cold chain.

NCCD is expected to do the following:

  • Address issues such as standards and protocols related to cold chain testing, verification, certification, and accreditation according to international standards.
  • Reduce the gap in skilled human resources required for the cold chain sector.

In addition, the GCCA India Division was also selected to organize a national seminar for NCCD on July 17, 2012 to develop a strategic work plan for NCCD.
