Jose Antonio Gutiérrez of BASAL-IRESA Wins 2019 Future Leader Award of Latin America

Mexico City, 5 November,  2019.  The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) is proud to announce Jose Antonio Gutiérrez,   Quality Assurance Manager and EHS, of BASAL-IRESA, Mexico,  as  winner of  the Future Leader Award of Latin America 2019.   The award was presented by Mr. Fernando León Alatorre, Director of Bajo  Cero Frigoríficos, S.A. de C.V. and  Secretary of the Latin American Advisory Council  and  Mr. Lowell Randel, Vice President,  Regulatory and Government Affairs, Global Cold Chain Alliance.

The GCCA Future Leader Award recognizes talented young professionals who have the potential to become future leaders and make a positive contribution to the development of the global temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics industry. Among other eligibility requirements for the award, nominees had to demonstrate excellence in their work, the potential to excel further in the many facets within the industry and possess insight into their organization’s strategic values and direction, policies and ways of working.
The Future Leader Award is organized by the Global Cold Chain Alliance and its main partner, the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW).  In its 3rd edition in  Latin America, the Future Leader Award recognizes  young people who stand out in the Latin American refrigerated storage industry. “The GCCA Future Leader and the GCCA Global NextGen Award programs are designed specially to find and recognize the next generation of leaders in the cold chain logistics industry,” Randel stated. “Jose and his fellow competitor(s) are perfect examples of the quality people that our industry possesses.”

"I am honored to be recognized as a future leader in the Latin American Cold Chain industry by receiving this award,” said Gutiérrez. “Attending the Congress was an outstanding experience for me, and I really enjoyed interacting with leaders from throughout the region, exchanging insights on quality improvement approaches in our industry, and being able to participate in the education content was amazing".

The two finalists who competed for the award were Sonia Bueno,  Chief Operating Officer  of Frezz  &  Logistics, Mexico  and  Jose Antonio Gutiérrez,  Quality  Assurance Manager and EHS at BASAL-IRESA. As part of the selection process, each nominee was interviewed and judged by a panel of industry leaders from around the world. Candidates were evaluated on their knowledge level of the industry, track record of excellence, communication skills, and leadership skills. In addition, each candidate delivered a short presentation to the panel of judges and the GCCA Latin America Cold Chain Congress attendees.

Mr. Jose Antonio Gutierrez will be able to attend the  NextGen  2020 meeting, to be held inside the Global Cold Chain Expo to be held from September 28  to  30   in Dallas  Texas, USA.   José Antonio Gutierrez  will compete with young leaders from around the world in their fight for the GCCA NextGen Award, which seeks to recognize and reward future leaders in the temperature-controlled logistics industry worldwide.  The competition will be held with young winners of the leading award from North America, Europe and South Africa.
