What is the Recommended R-value For Walls and Roofing?

Question: What is the recommended R-value for walls and roofing in a cold storage that operates at -27°C?

Answer: This comes out to about -16°F. Facilities at this temperature should generally have R-values ranging from 42-48. However, due to the hot climate, I would ask the contractor to quote an alternate for about an R-60 for the roof. The roof insulation is the least expensive insulation in the building and the roof receives the hottest loads.
