Assessment of Existing Cold Chain Standards, Regulations & Practices Takes Place in Beijing and Shanghai
Several provinces and municipalities in China are in the process of updating the cold chain network standards that are intended to exceed the national standards currently in place. Many of the current standards are based on guidelines introduced from the Soviet Union with little change since the 1960s. However, shippers and logistics companies have made significant upgrades to their equipment over the years, which have not kept pace with the new technologies. WFLO recently took part in a cold chain assessment, funded by the United Stated Trade Development Agency (USTDA), to assist the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) in defining new industry standards to be employed in two key cities—Beijing and Shanghai—based on U.S. standards and best practices.
