International Cold Chain Operations Course in Peru Exceeds Expectations

July 11, 2013

Success bodes well for upcoming Latin America Cold Chain Congress

The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) drew over 120 participants to its first International Course on Cold Chain Operations in Lima, Peru, June 27-28, 2013.

The course brought together local and international experts who shared their knowledge and experience in cold chain operations.

“This course exceeded our expectations and reflects the rapidly growing interest in cold chain technology throughout Latin and South America,” said GCCA President Corey Rosenbusch, CAE. “Consumer demand for high-quality frozen and refrigerated food products is increasing, and manufacturers, retailers, and other cold chain companies are responding by continually modernizing their operations and increasing their capacity.”

The most popular topics covered in the course included:

  • Facility Design and Maintenance
  • Energy Management
  • Innovations & Best Practices in Cold Chain

The success of the Peru course bodes well for another GCCA event, the Latin America Cold Chain Congress, scheduled for October 17-18, 2013 at the Marquis Reforma Hotel & Spa in Mexico City, México.

The Congress theme, “For an Integrated Cold Chain,” captures the essence of how the Latin American cold chain industry is rapidly integrating as the food industry continues to develop and grow.

More than 150 Mexican and international participants are expected to gather to learn about new trends, address challenges affecting the region, and discuss methods for overcoming those challenges in order to improve the cold supply chain market needs.

“We will address trends in technology, energy conservation, transportation, automation processes, refrigeration systems, and essential administrative strategies,” GCCA Latin America Director Debbie Corado explained. “It will also feature one of the largest industry exhibitions in Latin America for the temperature-controlled products.”
